Who? Curtis Bok Where? Each year since 2006, Retirement Wave members have held a holiday party in Panama City to meet each other and to share some joy! This year was a great success with more than 100 members attending. A small portion of the “joy” shared is seen above. Everyone agreed that the cake was a beauty and probably should be left alone, but as you can see, our taste buds won out!

Who? John Where? Whether you say “Hogar, dulce hogar” or “Home, sweet home”, it carries the same emotional power. Homes in Panama are as different from each other as they are in any nation. The one above on the Pacific coast ofCoclé province in central Panama is not at all uncommon, but it is only a shell. Who? Jeff Lane Where? It’s not all sunshine in Panama. And it’s not always a brilliantly colorful sunset. But it can still be very beautiful. In this photo, a boater heads home at day’s end among the islands of Bocas del Toro in northwest Panama on the Caribbean coast.

Who? Jaime Toro Where? While Panama City has some truly wonderful and very modern restaurants to satisfy the most discriminating palate, many of us especially appreciate the small restaurants that are so common in the rural areas. They offer simple but good food for very little money. The restaurant above is found just outside the town of Cañita near the shores of Lake Bayano in eastern Panama and is a good example of a rural restaurant where good food, low prices, and friendly people make eating a pleasure.

Who? Mike Manifold Where? You may not be far from Panama City, seen in the background wfith ships waiting to enter the Panama Canal, but it can seem as if you are somewhere far, far away from the urban sprawl. This is an area west of the city, across the Canal, as relaxed as the city is busy.
